Village Seven developer Bud Shepard dies at age 82
Omer “Bud” Shepard, who along with his brother, Bruce, developed the Village Seven neighborhood on Colorado Springs’ northeast side 40 years ago and who was recognized as a pioneer in local real estate development, died July 31. He was 82. The cause of death wasn’t immediately known, said Bruce Shepard. Bud Shepard had lived in Scottsdale, Ariz., for the past four to five years because of health reasons, Bruce said. The Shepards were among the city’s early real estate developers and their signature project was Village Seven — a complete community of homes, schools, parks and shopping developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s southeast of Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway.
